Public permits, turned into jobs for your kind of work.
Every residential project that needs a permit starts as a public record. Permit Motion turns those records into a curated weekly list of jobs you can act on.
Where the permits come from
Cities and counties publish building permits through their online permit systems and open-data portals. We collect new and updated permits from each one, every week, and keep each record linked back to the city's own page.
What every permit shows
- Project description, value and filing date
- Address and permit number, linked to the city's record
- Owner name where the permit shows it
- Contractor and license, when one is named
- When no value is published: an estimate from the scope or the typical range for that project type in your area, always labelled as an estimate
How the list gets made
Project descriptions are written by hand and vary a lot. Our AI-powered platform identifies project types (kitchen and bath, roofing, solar, ADU and so on) and filters out minor projects to pass along only substantial, high-value opportunities. What reaches you is a clean, actionable list of opportunities tailored specifically for your work.
Your filters
- Your region, or the counties and cities within it
- Project types for your line of work
- Value minimums by project type, adjustable
Contacting homeowners
Each listed homeowner in your weekly report comes with links to public-record lookups that open in your browser. We don't sell phone numbers or email addresses. Calling rules, including the National Do Not Call Registry, are yours to follow, and every list links the registry.
When it opens
We're launching first in the San Francisco Bay Area, with more of California next. Leave your email to hear when your area opens.
